Doesn’t look like a VR-4 engine bay, and it doesn’t look like it’s got the VR-4 badges.. The body kit looks like... I don’t know, I don’t know these cars well, so I’m not sure if it’s actually a VR or not. I would email the seller, asking for a vin so I could see if it’s real, but I don’t want to sound like an arse. Any oppos out there able to identify this as the real deal? If it is real, it would be a mighty cheap way to get into one of the most underrated 90’s Japanese pseudo-supercars, at least, for the winter, or until whenever it decides to explode...
Below is how my conversation with the seller would probably go, were I to have one with them...

That’s a stone stock TT engine bay. Looks like it’s had a rough few years though.
Salvage title, needs water pump, timing belts and a clutch? $1500 would be as high as I’d go on that one.

Definitely a VR4. I would run away fast though judging by what they say it needs, on top of what it really needs.

Maybe I’ll offer him a trade of my “ran when parked” DSM GSX that I have that’s going to take a loooot more work to get back on the road than that thing, and see what he says...... I mean, if I were to buy it, the OEM/JDM(?) service kit with the water pump, timing belt, and all associated gaskets and such is $479 and a clutch is $439 ... Sure is a tempting prospect....

It’s a VR4, but even if the parts costs are somewhat reasonable, the install will take quite a bit more time than you think. That’s the engine bay from hell in terms of space and accessibility
It’s overpriced. Problem is the ‘clutch’ might hide the need of tranny rebuilt. Usually VR4’s will need at least 1 rebuild/replace of the 6MT around the 100K mile mark in their lifetimes. Is this a 5MT?

Do you carfix? I’ve never worked on one but their reputation is one of being the nastiest thing in the world to wrench on. A few years ago a cool little shop I know billed over 10 grand to put an R/T twin turbo Stealth with issues back on the road. You’re a total dragonslayer deserving of respect if you can fix one of these.

Yes, yes I do. I mechanically freshened up and fixed some bits on my Interceptor over the summer, I am a weekend away from having a new intake manifold in my Escalade. I have an injection pump to put in an old F-350 dump truck with a 7.3IDI, and have yet to start nursing a ‘92 GSX eclipse back to health. So as for this, I’m not sure, if it’s for sale still after my Cadillac sells, then who knows. I’ve really got too many projects going on at once right now, so taking that on might have to be reserved for a later date.
